Soon-To-Be "Mr & Mrs"

My cousin, Dave, and his fiancee, Stacey, are getting married this October. Her family threw her a surprise bridal shower today.  Unfortunately, I was unable to attend in person so I sent my gift to Aunt Rita in New Jersey for special delivery.

Here is the card I made for Stacey.  She's pretty crafty herself so I do hope she likes it.

I saw a similar card on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for a wedding or bridal shower.  It's a little hard to see the pearls... for tuxedo buttons on the "groom" and a necklace on the "bride".

I used silver shimmery paper for the bride and black cardstock for the groom.  White gel pen stitch marks frame out the card.  The white layer is Curious Metallics Cryogen White so it also has a nice shimmer to it when held at the right angle.

The sentiment is from SP & Company's Bold Sentiments I stamp set.  On the inside, I included the "It's a Shower" sentiment with wedding dress from the My Creative Time All Around Everything and Accessories stamp sets.

Here are a few more close-ups:

Just as I was working on this blog post, I found a new Pinspired Challenges group.  I love Pinterest and thought their idea for challenges was awesome!  Plus, the sponsor this week is SP & Company!!

So... needless to say, I'm going to enter this card in this week's challenge.  The pinspiration this week reminded me of a wedding. And in my opinion, the classic black and white of this card goes with any color combination.  I'm definitely going to begin following these challenges on Facebook and by subscribing to their blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Let's Celebrate a Birthday!

I've been a bit behind lately on updating my website.  Earlier this week, I was fortunate to take a few days off from work to spend with my sister before her maternity leave ends.  She celebrated her birthday on Monday and it was great being there for it.

Dad and his wife, Elaine, came up and took us out for a birthday lunch at the new Q Barbecue restaurant nearby.  It was delicious!!  Here's a photo of all of us (that's me on the far left).  Blake, my 6-week old nephew, did wonderful!  Not even a peep.

For Jackie's birthday, I made her this card.  My inspiration came from this card that I found on Pinterest.  I used a new paper stack and just love--love the color combo.  The cream shimmer paper is some that I had leftover from the wedding invitations I made for her.

I used SP & Company's Bold Sentiments III: Birthday stamp set for the sentiment and embellished the card with pearls.  Here's a close-up where you can see the smaller pearls that I added to the printed layer.

The card was a hit!  I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

So Glad to Be Friends

I made this card to send to my good friend, Diane, who has leant a listening ear more than a few times over the last couple of weeks.  I thought she would appreciate getting this card in the mail as a surprise.

Not only did it give me a chance to practice with my Copics, but I also tried out my newest stamp from SP&Company, the Gill Roberts Collection Friends Forever set.

To add some dimension (without making it too difficult to mail), I used two small Flamingo pink buttons and added white gel pen stitch marks to frame out the image.

Lately, I haven't been using as many embellishments on my cards.  That's mostly because I intended to put these cards through the mail.  I'm always worried that they're going to be eaten up by machinery at the Post Office.

Slowly chipping away at my Beginner Copics class through Color Me Creative Classroom, I've also tried to spend time on my coloring technique.

It feels great to finally update my site.  Being sick over the last week really wiped me out and it put me behind on sharing my more recent projects.

Thank You, Mom!

We've had a lot going on lately in our household.  My daughter graduated from Pre-K at the end of May, we're in the middle of a DIY kitchen remodel, and for the last two weeks, a 5-day Norovirus made it's way through the entire family (thank you, childcare center!).

My Mom has been a big help to us... picking the kids up from school periodically, watching Jackson one Saturday so Kaitlyn and I could spend the day at Water Country with some friends, among other things.

So, I decided to surprise her with a thank you card and a treat to a local restaurant.  She's had a lot going on at work with the end of the school year, SOL testing, etc.  I really do appreciate all of her help and we don't always take the time to show it.

Here's another close-up:

Bears Gone Fishing

When the Gill Roberts Collection Best Dad Ever stamp set was released, I had the perfect person in mind for a Father's Day card.  My brother-in-law loves to go fishing and this year is extra special because it's his very first Father's Day.  His son--my nephew--Blake, was due June 14th but surprised everyone by arriving five weeks early.  So, both my sister and brother-in-law were able to celebrate Mother's and Father's Day in style this year with their first child.

I colored the image with my Copics and used Colorless Blender with a wash cloth to add texture to the fur.  The Kraft cardstock base needed something extra so I added score lines to frame out the card.  I also added some Eucalyptus Stickles to the grass and shrubs and white gel pen stitch marks to the blue layer.  I also wanted to keep the card pretty flat for mail purposes.

Copics:
Bears - E35/37/39, E50/53/55
Basket - E41/42
Grass - YG03/17/25
Bird/Bows - B21/24/26, R27/29
Water/Jar - BG0000/BG10

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!  You've earned it!
