What's Poppin?

So, I'm finally getting around to sharing the card I made for my daughter a few weeks ago.  She couldn't wait for me to get my monthly kit from The Stamps of Life when she saw the preview of the popcorn2stamp set.  It also came with the coordinating dies.

I thought it turned out super cute!  Now all we need is a movie to go along with our popcorn!

What movies have you seen lately?  We've seen quite a few over the last few weeks --- certainly more than usual --- but they were great!  Lone Survivor and Captain Phillips topped our list.

Thanks for stopping by!

Winter Wonderland

This has been the perfect week here in Virginia for Winter Wonderland Week at SP and Company. As I am writing this blog post, it's snowing outside and we just learned that schools are closed tomorrow. We are keeping our fingers crossed that there will be enough snow to build a snowman in the morning. We got a snowman kit for Christmas two years ago that's been sitting in the garage still waiting to be used. My husband who is originally from Canada jokes how a few inches of snow will shutdown the entire state.  As a state employee myself, I appreciate the welcome snow day.  :)

For my card this week, I used the Snowman and Snowdog stamp by Tina Wenke. The snow drifts in the background were cut with my Spellbinders Borderabilities dies. The sentiment, from the Decorating Snowman set (also by Tina Wenke), is stamped in SU Cherry Cobbler ink.

Here's a close-up of the main image, colored with Copics:

Don't forget to link up your creations for Winter Wonderland Week. If you live in an area affected by the Polar Vortex, I hope you get out and enjoy the snow... but also keep safe and warm.

Hedgie Love and Flowers

This week over at SP and Company, it's Happy Anniversary and Couples Week! I knew right away I wanted to use the Hedgie with Large Bouquet stamp set by Tina Wenke for my design team project. This is such a great set with a variety of sentiments.

It's also a perfect set for anniversaries or for someone you love, so I will be entering this card in the current Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #87: Valentine's Day/Love.

I love how my project evolved this week. I had a completely different sketch and design in mind when I started my project and then in mid-stream, I changed just about everything except for the main image and red bow.

This is my very first double slider card thanks to a tutorial I found on Pinterest. It was a complete leap of faith, unsure how it would turn out.  But I absolutely LOVE it!!

When you pull the tab, there are two panels that slide out from the card top. The sliding mechanism fits in between the card base so it doesn't open up like a traditional card. On the back slider, I stamped just the flowers and butterfly from the Hedgie stamp set. I colored them with Copics in a slightly lighter shade than the main image. I stamped the front slider in second generation Real Red ink with the small polka dot background stamp (on clearance, so get your's before they're gone!). The Happy Anniversary sentiment from the Hedgie set is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

I created the red satin bow with my Bow-It-All by Zutter from Really Reasonable Ribbon. It adds just the right touch! I'm super excited about how this card turned out. I'll definitely be making more slider cards in the future!

Please join us this week and link up your creations on the SP Blog. My teammates on the design team have some fabulous projects to share too. Thanks for stopping by!!

Nuts About You Valentine & Others

Hi everyone!  I have a cute project to share for Silly Valentines Week over at SP and Company. I got the idea for these little treat boxes from a tutorial I found on Pinterest. They were super easy to create with the Stampin' Up Envelope Punch Board. And these adorable images from the Cricut Create-A-Critter cartridges went hand in hand with the Silly Valentine Sentiments mini stamp set at SP&Co.

I put these three boxes together in one evening with the idea that I may make these treats for the kids in my daughter's Kindergarten class. Making 20 more of these may be slightly ambitious so it's probably safe to say these three treats will be for her two teachers and the school bus driver.

Owl Be Your Valentine

Whale You Be Mine?

Nuts About You Valentine

For the squirrel sentiment above, I combined the "nuts about you" with "valentine" from the owl sentiment.  You can't even tell the two were pieced together.

They are the perfect size for a Ghirardelli chocolate square. I'm sure you can imagine how hard it was to hold off on eating these yummy treats...

Don't forget to checkout projects from the rest of the Design Team and to upload your Silly Valentine projects this week. I hope you decide to play along with us!

A Dino-mite Birthday

Today I have a dino-mite birthday card to share with you guys. We were recently invited to our neighbor's house for their son's third birthday party. He's in love with dinosaurs so I couldn't resist using this Create-A-Critter image. It's attached to a spring action wobble thingy which is why it looks a bit off kilter in the photo.

The sentiment is pieced together from a few stamp sets from SP and Company - Happy BannersBig Build a Banner 2, and Tiny Build A Banner. The tangerine tango cardstock was cut with Word Bubbles Framelits, both from Stampin' Up. The green chevron card stock was from my stash. To add interest, I stamped two SP chevrons in tangerine tango and wild wasabi on the card interior.

You Have My Heart - SP Color Combo Week

I can't believe it's 2014! SP and Company is kicking off the new year with a Color Combo Week. I'm happy to share my card using various shades of pinks with a little bit of teal thrown in. Isn't Cupid Bear by Tina Wenke simply adorable?

Now that Christmas is behind us, I don't feel so bad moving on to Valentine's Day. I created the background with Hearts on String and stamped it as a second generation in Calypso Coral ink. The heart cut-out and the You have my HEART sentiment both came from the Zig Zag Hearts & Sentiments mini stamp set which coordinates perfectly with the Stitched Journaling Shape & Arrows Die Tools.

I colored the teal heart with Copics and added a small button in Seafoam Mist. To incorporate more teal, I inked the edges and stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana. White gel pen stitches frame out the card and a few Stickles give Cupid's wings a little bling!

Supplies:
SP Stamps: Cupid Bear - Tina Wenke, Hearts on String, Zig Zag Hearts & Sentiments
Dies: Stitched Journaling Shape & Arrows
Inks: Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana

Happy New Year - Wild for Wetlands #2

Happy New Year!  I can't believe it's 2014!  Today I have another birthday card to share using the Wetlands stamp set again from Stampin' Up. It was so simple to create the card base with the new Fancy Label Stand Up easel card die tool from The Stamps of Life.

I wanted it to look like the beach so I sponged on various SU inks (coastal cabana, baked brown sugar, and soft sky).  The reed grass and sandpipers are stamped in early espresso.  The sentiment, also from the Wetlands set, is stamped in coastal cabana.

You should really try out this Wetlands stamp set.  It's great for anyone who loves the beach or nature.  See my other Wetlands birthday card here.

To all of my friends, family, and followers -- best wishes in the new year!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
SU Stamp: Wetlands
Inks: Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Sky, Early Espresso
Paper: Cryogen White; Kraft
