I'm Back and Ready to Kick Off the Summer

Hi everyone!  I'm sorry if anyone thought I was M.I.A. for a while. I am still crafting but haven't been able to get an update posted to the blog until now. It's been a whirlwind Spring semester for me and I'm really hopeful that I can get my blog back in shape now that the summer has arrived. More details on what I've been doing below if you care to know...

First though... here is a card I made for my neighbor who is leaving today for Alaska. They are actually on the cross-country flight as we speak and they will be stationed there for at least 3 years. God help them and all of their belongings get there in one piece with two very young boys in tow. We will certainly miss having them across the street and hope they will return to their house one day.

I used watercolor paper with distress inks for the background and popped up the die-cut clouds with dimensionals. It was lots of fun using my Paper Smooches goodies on this project. I will also be entering it in their current Anything Goes challenge this week.

A little more about why I was M.I.A...

My life got completely turned around for a few months when I unexpectedly became leader of my daughter's girl scout troop in mid-December. When we returned from the holidays, we hit the ground running with my very first cookie season and our small multi-level troop sold more than 2,2 00 boxes of cookies. If that didn't keep us busy, we also had tons of activities on top of that - from paint on pottery, to bowling, to making goodie bags to send donated cookies to troops overseas, to leading my first bridging ceremony at our year-end picnic. You name it, we did it!

Here's a photo of the little clouds I made on my Silhouette Cameo personalized with sketch pens to present the year-end patches two weeks ago:

And finally tonight, I have my very last service unit meeting as troop leader and will thankfully turnover the huge stack of year-end paperwork that I had to complete. I committed to sticking it out as leader until the end of the school year -- which I am very proud to say I did. It was like working two full-time jobs (but without any extra money) and I appreciate the support I received from family and friends which helped me get through to the end.

Girl Scouts took over my life as any other troop leader would certainly understand and appreciate. However since the end of April, I have also planned a baby shower for my sister for baby #2, made it through commencement at work celebrating VIMS 1,000th degree cohort, welcomed Ms. Piper - an 8-week-old chocolate lab puppy - into our family, and celebrated my nephew Blake's 2nd birthday along with the birth of his little brother, Everett Dale. Life outside of cards and all things craftiness has certainly kept me busy.

I think it's safe to say, we've had a very busy Spring and I'm really looking forward to summer. More cards and projects will be coming your way again soon.

Thanks for hanging in there with me!!
